Rebecca Ford is a PhD student at University of the Highlands and Islands, Centre for Nordic Studies, based in Orkney. Her research project ‘Words and Waves: a dialogical approach to discourse, community, and marine renewables in Orkney’ , is looking at the role of narrative within discourse communities. She was elected as one of the Postgraduate Representatives on the ASLE-UKI executive committee in 2015.
Michelle Poland is a full-time doctoral student researching a thesis on the ‘EcoGothic Imagination’ in the Anthropocene at the University of Lincoln, England. She is the Membership Secretary to The Tennyson Society and a Postgraduate Representative for the Executive Committee of The Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment, UK and Ireland.
Alex Bevan is a second-year, fully-funded PhD student, studying English at the University of Lincoln, under the supervision of Professor Lucie Armitt. Alex’s PhD is titled: ‘Gothic: Literary Travel and Tourism’, and explores the intersection between Gothic literature and Gothic tourist attractions/sites, identifying story-telling as the means through which the Gothic explorer negotiates their journey. Alex is a founding-member of the Women in Academia research group at Lincoln, and she teaches on ‘Introduction to Literary Studies’ (level 1) and ‘Gothic Spaces’ (Masters) at Lincoln.
